Holly Schroeder

Holly Schroeder

Born and raised in Munich, Germany, Holly Schröder spent a lot of time in the Alps. Having discovered the Rockies on a road trip from East to West Coast in 1970, she moved with her husband and two children to Colorado in 1973.

Holly works in several mediums – oils are her favorite. She is an award winning artist, loves to discover new places to paint outdoors (Plein air Painting). Mountain scenes, wildlife, aspens, streams, and wildflowers are her favorites. Most of her work is available in Giclée prints and in greeting cards.

Some prominent artists such as Rose Edin, Lloyd Thorsten, and Noreen Hanson were influential mentors. Under their tutelage she discovered her own favorite technique – a combination of the knife and brush.

When she is not outside and plein-air painting, she can usually be found in the classroom. Holly has been teaching all aspects of traditional oil painting and knife techniques for more than 30 years. Many students have exhibited their work.

For the new Children’s Hospital facility, which opened in 2007, Holly was consigned to donate a painting. She feels honored and the painting resides in a special place in the hospital, bringing joy to those that view it. With 33 different animals to find, it certainly is a masterpiece which is not only fun but beautiful. Holly exhibits her work at River Canyon Gallery in Bailey and The Courtyard Gallery in Buena Vista, Colorado.

In her painting she expresses her love of the LORD through the beauty of the mountains, wildlife, aspens, streams and wildflowers.
